Expanded Opportunities for SAK-U Grads! As SAK University has grown, we've noticed two growing needs: A more thorough advanced curriculum, and more performance opportunities for graduates of level four improv. After much consideration, we think we've come up with a couple exciting solutions. FIRST, we are expanding our Advanced Conservatory program. Instead of one, 10-week class, we will now be offering two, 8-week classes. Conservatory One will focus on advanced scene study with a longform emphasis, and will include an 8th week performance with our Conservatory Two class. In Conservatory Two, the director and students will select and hone a longform performance format in the first four weeks, and then perform their show on Monday nights at SAK during the final four weeks. Notes and individual feedback will be given after each performance. SECOND, we have created an exciting, shortform, post-grad opportunity called The Friday Night Grad Program. This will allow students to continue the fun they had in level four by learning new games, and entering in an all-new, Friday night competitive improv show called "The Rookie Rumble". Preceding the show will be four weeks of Friday night workshops from 7 to 9:30pm. In week one, the pool of students (16 minimum, 24 maximum) will play and workshop together. That evening will culminate in a lottery-style placement of teams. During weeks two and three, the director will workshop your team on games you've decided to play. During week four, you'll do a mock run through of "The Rookie Rumble" show. Then... "The Rookie Rumble" begins! The next eight Fridays at 11:30pm in the theater will be "The Rookie Rumble", a double elimination, shortform competition (you're guaranteed at least two shows). An hour workshop from 10-11pm will get night-of players ready for the show. Although the structure is competitive, our goal is to create a community environment where all teams support each other, and everyone has a really great time. All grads of level four are welcome to sign up for one, or both programs concurrently. We hope you're as excited as we are about these new opportunities!
