Mark Lainer

Mark Lainer started performing with SAK in 1991. He is originally from Worcester, MA and has performed in LA, New York City, Massachusetts and Central FL. He trained with Groundlings East (later Gotham Improv) and, while in New York performed with the New York Improv Squad and Unexpected Company. He was a founding member of the “Who What and Warehouse Improv Company,” the resident improv troupe at the late, lamented Comedy Warehouse on Disney’s Pleasure Island. He has written, directed and performed in special events for clients such as such as Ford Motor Company, Ernst and Young, Eckerd Drug and Walt Disney World, among many others. He has also led corporate training seminars in the application of improvisational techniques to the business world. He works part-time at The Horror Makeup Show and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, and with Dramatic Solutions, the AntiGravity Show and, of course, Sak Comedy Lab. He has appeared in many television commercials and TV shows, including a recurring role on the syndicated series The Cape, and a featured role in Episode Five of the HBO miniseries From the Earth to the Moon. He also starred in the Academy Award and Emmy award winning FSU student film Slow Dancin’ Down the Aisles of the Quick Check (screened at the Cannes Film Festival and winner of numerous film festival prizes), the Coca Cola Refreshing Filmmaker Grand Prize winning film Escape Back to the Movies (shown on hundreds of film screens nationwide), the independent short film The Meeting (shown at the LA Independent Film Festival, Florida Film Festival, and on the Sci Fi Channel show Exposure) and was featured in a number of FSU student films. He has recently appeared on Burn Notice, The Glades, and Bones, and he will be appearing in the season finale of the new AMC show Halt and Catch Fire. He lives with his wife, Linda Landry, in a rogue animal shelter in Orlando, FL.
