As SAK Comedy Lab continues with our phased re-opening, we’re very happy to be welcoming back our students and teachers, with the safety and well-being of all of them being the key focus of all our planning efforts.

As we progress together through this unprecedented and evolving situation as responsibly as we can, we’ll be implementing a number of ongoing safety measures based on guidance from health authorities, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other appropriate government agencies. Since many of these measures will be evolving, and will adapt according to ongoing developments, we want to be sure our students and teachers are aware of these protocols. These measures and policies are outlined below.  These policies may be amended as regards ongoing best health practices.

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is a contagious disease that can, in some instances, lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and people with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. So, it’s important that our students and teachers understand and agree to abide by these policies. By coming attending class at SAK you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

Policies SAK will implement to ensure a safe environment for both students and teachers:

Staying Home when Appropriate
Our policy is that teachers and students must stay home if they have tested positive for or are showing COVID-19 symptoms. Our policies will encourage sick teachers to stay at home without fear of reprisal, and we will make sure our teachers are aware of these policies. We will require a ten-day quarantine or negative COVID test result for any teacher or student who has tested positive, before returning to class. Any student who tests positive for COVID-19, please notify us at [email protected].

Face Mask/Coverings
We strongly encouarge all nonvaccinated students to wear a face mask while in the class area. Some classes may have a mask requirement at the teacher's request, this will be noted in the specific class day-of-the-week description.

Temperature check
Each teacher will check their temperature by touchless thermometer upon arriving to every shift. Any teacher with a temperature above 100.4 will go home and begin quarantine procedures, and cannot return to work for 14 days, and then only if they have been fever-free for three (3) days and is otherwise symptom-free as well.

Hand Hygiene
We will encourage and enable our teachers and students to handwash with soap and water, and we will structure classes to provide opportunities to do this. We will provide strategically located stations with hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Cleaning and Disinfection
A dedicated staff member will clean and disinfect all commonly touched surfaces in the class areas, between classes, using a cleaner which meets EPA disinfection criteria.

Distancing
We have arranged our class areas so that there is enough room so that students can have a reasonable distance while both seated or standing.

Food and drink
If you bring food or beverages to class, please be mindful of your fellow students and keep these items away from where others might touch them and dispose of them in the trash can after finishing.

Training
We will ensure that all teachers, students and staff are aware of our policies and trained in/appraised of them and they will be updated to any changes to our policies. We will update these policies as needed following guidelines and regulations of federal, state and local authorities. We will keep records of all trainings and updates.

Please contact us at [email protected] with any questions, and we look forward to seeing you in class soon.
